NAIROBI NATIONAL MUSEUM



Who would have thought that a place that was once used to preserve collections of various specimens by the East African Natural History Society could now be used as a place to interpret Kenya’s rich heritage.  It offers a one stop for visitors to sample the country’s rich heritage and history and there is no doubt that it is among the exciting places that we have in the country.

Although the locations have been changing from time to time it finally found its own space. With so many educating sections, it is one of the most preferred tourist and holiday destinations in Kenya adjacent to the city center.  Nairobi National Museum displays cultures of various tribes in Kenya and contains dinosaur fossils found in our land.  With Nairobi Snake Park just opposite it, people interested in all sorts of reptiles can enjoy their moments there.

Nairobi National Museum is located at the Museum Hill Road off Uhuru Highway.   It is approximately 15 minutes drive from the city center, accessible by both public and private means.

Dotted with a feeling of heritage, culture, arts and crafts that is for education, the museum is furnished with a world class Coffee Lounge, Gift shops and a Book shop and also botanical gardens that offer a serene environment that can be used for leisure moments.

When to Visit the Museum
The museum and snake park are open all days of the week from 8.30am through to 6.00pm with a small admission fee. 

With an impressive and magnificent piece of architecture, the museum draws visitors from all walks of life in appreciation of Kenya’s rich heritage which is the nature, culture, history and contemporary art. The artworks and materials used in the fabrication of outdoor sculptures, the landscaping and the botanic gardens, link to the four pillars of Kenya’s national heritage. What an exciting place to be.
