NAIROBI'S AWESOME SITES - Part II

 Mamba Village
Mamba Village is East Africa’s largest crocodile farm, its very exciting to watch them; more especially during meal times as they burst into a feeding frenzy.  The outdoor seating under canopied tables faces the picturesque lake and lush, botanical gardens.

Attractions
There are additional animal pens that hold Ostrich and reticulated giraffe and peacocks, while a host of aquatic birds swim and fish in the lake. Across the road from Mamba is the Jolly Roger Theme Park with its beautifully maintained compound.

At the site there are also several bouncing castles, water slides, a swimming pool and sandpits. Other activities include rock climbing, a fishing and face-painting. Therefore it is a site worth visiting.

Location of Mamba Village
Mamba Village is located along Langata Road. For those using public means; board Matatu No. 24 or 126 from Railways Bus Terminus

Nairobi Animal Orphanage
You can visit the animals at the Nairobi Animal Orphanage or stroll through the more expansive grounds of the Nairobi Safari Walk.  

Attractions
The Activities include; watching a herd of elephant babies feed, play, mud-bathe and wrestle.  Other animals include warthog, the blind rhino among others.

Visiting Hours
Although the orphanage is open daily, visiting hours are strictly from 11am to 12noon.

Nairobi National Park
Nairobi National Park is very unique with a variety of animals and birds and is a principal attraction for visitors to Nairobi.  The park has a diversity of environments with characteristic fauna and flora. In addition, there are rocky valleys and man-made dams that have added a further habitat favorable to certain species of birds and also attract water dependent herbivores during the dry season.

Attractions
Nairobi National Park is one of the most successful of Kenya's rhino sanctuaries. There are also large predators like Lions, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs among other animals. The herbivores there include eland, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest.

Locating Nairobi National Park 
Board Matatu No.15 at Bus Station (BS) near Afya Centre, or Matatu No.125, 126 from Railways Station.

Entry Requirements

National Archives
The centrally located collection contains historic photographs, Kenyan crafts and paintings which are the major attractions
Ngong Hills
It is a very popular weekend destination for visitors. 


Attractions
The site is ideal for visitors coming to take walks, picnic or worship on the hills. Professional and amateur runners will also be found in the morning jogging up and down the steep slopes.

Locating Ngong Hills
To visit Ngong Hills using public means from Nairobi, board matatu No.111 from Railway Station terminus. You can then walk or hire a boda boda (Motorcycle) to get to Ngong Police Station, the starting point for this hike.

Entry Requirements
There is a fee per person to be paid to Kenya Wildlife Service at their office near the Ngong Police Station, or at the KWS barrier on the trail.

Caution: When visiting Ngong Hills please be cautious as security is a major concern, there have been reported incidents of criminals attacking visitors.  It would be advisable to get armed escort from the KWS rangers.
