ROUTES IN NAIROBI NOTORIOUS FOR CRIMINALS

These are routes within Nairobi that are notorious for muggers, Carjackers, Robbers and other criminals; therefore they are considered the most dangerous places in Nairobi.  The criminals take advantage of either traffic jams or even any other thing to target the victims.

Unlike robbers; muggers are sporadic and migrate from one region to another once they realize they are on the police radar.  The most notorious points are traffic jam bound areas as well as several major junctions.
The dangerous routes include;
Thika Superhighway between Survey and Kenyatta University

Globe Cinema roundabout is notorious for robberies and muggings by organized gangs of street people.

Along Waiyaki way, muggers sit on the benches that are there simply waiting for the right time to strike

Other dangerous areas to avoid are Race Course Road especially at OTC and Landhies Road, where gangs snatch mobile phones and handbags.

The stretch between Nyayo stadium and Haile Selassie Avenue are areas notorious for muggings.

Other crime spots in Nairobi are;
Stretches of Uhuru Highway,
Railways club,
Parliament road,
Chiromo Road,
Museum hill,
Limuru Road near City Park
Eastleigh along Juja Road
Kariobangi-Dandora roundabouts

More Tips
Be wary of people offering you taxi rides.

When in traffic jam it is advisable that when you see people start to surround your car hold down the horn constantly as it will alert other drivers and any police officers close by if lucky enough. It should make them run away also.

Possible crimes around these areas are; Robberies, Kidnapping, Mugging, Carjacking, Rape

The routes mentioned are considered dangerous places in Nairobi because some of the crimes occur in day time therefore, it's very important to be watchful when you reach certain spots.  Some of the spots are in stretches where the road is damaged and drivers are forced to reduce speed and at times they will try to stop the vehicle.
