EBOLA TALK

Since the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa a lot has been done and said by people in different levels. Part of this talk has been personal opinions from people.  As we all know opinion represent someone’s view but it doesn’t necessarily mean it is the truth of the matter.  As much as the virus has put most people on alert most of the times people find themselves saying things that need not to be said.  I believe the countries that have been affected are doing all they can to contain the virus and therefore they should not be crucified.

The virus has been labeled as the African plague, could that be true? But then again let us not forget that it’s a virus and anyone can carry it to any continent or country.  There is talk that the Ebola virus has brought out racism with its tail.  Yes!! I say that because it is actually portrayed out in the open without any remorse.  Before people would not show it out but this time round it has been revealed without fear.

Perceptions
People have different perceptions towards different issues and things, but it doesn’t mean that whatever one perceives is the truth.  We view things differently and it is good to push further and get to know the truth so as not to be seen as ignorant.

There are those with perceptions that because the outbreak originated in Africa, then every African has the virus regardless. Am sure if exposed to the virus, it doesn’t choose the color of the skin.  Public health emergencies respect no boarders, therefore it can go to any extent not choosing on where to.

Some people believe that every country in Africa has Ebola therefore wouldn’t dare traveling to any African country.  It’s good to inquire and get more information on the country you would like to travel to but be careful not to generalize issues.

Precautions
The most important thing is get enough information about the virus. Beware of how the virus spreads and know the symptoms and prevention. Get to know the facts first before taking any step.  For more information about the virus please follow this link:

For those who travel from time to time because of business or other issues are advised to be cautious and in case they experience any Ebola symptom they should visit a specialist for thorough screening.  Don't panic, but try as much as possible to be sure before coming into any conclusion because it could be something else.

All in all we wish that the countries that have been affected will be able to contain the virus and be able to safe lives. For any other country, alertness is of utmost importance; measures should be put in place to prevent the spread in case detected. I know most people are not sure whether some of our African countries are well equipped to fight the virus though there is some assurance from the government that all is well.
