NAIROBI'S MUTHURWA MARKET

Being a walking distance from the city center, muthurwa market has gained momentum with time and more and more Kenyans now prefer to go to Muthurwa market for shopping because it is convenient and now with variety.  It is vibrantly and energetically growing day by day.

It is a place in Nairobi where to shop for clothes, groceries and other accessories. When Muthurwa market was first opened, it was such an excitement to some hawkers as they felt it will solve the problem of space and the unending running battles with council askaris, but to others they preferred to continue the tussle with the askaris as they felt that the shoppers were not going to Muthurwa market to look for goods and therefore they needed to look for those customers at the city centre in order to earn a living.

I know up to now, some of the hawkers still find their way back to the city centre but most of them have now settled at Muthurwa market after the county government banned them from the city centre.  Muthurwa is less dusty or muddy compared to other markets more especially where clothes’ stalls are located.

Apart from clothes stalls there are also space for groceries and other food stalls that sell in wholesale.

How to Locate Muthurwa Market from the City
Muthurwa market is located along Haile Selassie Avenue within the Eastlands area of Nairobi.  It is a walking distance therefore you don’t need to board a matatu to get there.

Prices at Muthurwa Market
Since most of the clothes are second hand, goods at Muthurwa market are fairly priced, therefore you can get nice and fashionable clothes at a reasonable price.

You can go for shopping at Muthurwa at any time of the day as it is open from 8a.m – 6p.m

Therefore, Muthurwa market is a place to go shopping while in Nairobi.
