Apparently they were built to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's visit to the city
in 1952.

the Nguu Tatu Hills (3 hills), you are in completely natural surroundings, and
can virtually see nothing but un-spoilt bush around you. The reserve itself has
giraffes, camels, elands, oryx, water bucks, ostriches and bird watching bandas.
