HOLIDAY DESTINATIONS IN MOMBASA KENYA - Part V



The town is linked with the rest of the country by a rail to Uganda, connecting the landlocked country with the port.  Above all, Kenya has plenty of holiday destinations and is a place for safaris with plenty of tourist attractions. Visit Mombasa and get to see awesome attractions and have lots and lots of things to do while on vacation.

Mombasa Beaches
Most beach hotels boast views of the ocean and the sand beaches.  

Attractions and Holiday Events
Serena beach, sarova whitesands, milele beach, Bamburi beach, Sun and Sand, Mombasa beach, Nyali Beach, Severin Beach, Travelers Beach, voyager beach among others.

There are also the reefs that break the incoming waves. 

Mombasa Night Dhow Cruise
The walk lasts maximum half an hour. Engross yourself in its beauty, the historical point of Arabic and Portuguese settlements, farm animals flapping about. It can be fun, so make it fun and do some shopping.

Tourist Attractions and Holiday Events
Women selling beads, ear rings, some tourist shops, khanga's, fabrics, old coastal music, old and worn books, Somali shops, and beautiful sari's advertised through the many shop windows of local business people.

Mombasa Old Town
It is reminiscent of the days when Arabs and Asians exerted a heavy influence on the town and its culture, especially in the architecture and its language.

Tourist Attractions
The Old town is famous for its ancient buildings, extravagant art designs, curio and jewelry shops.  A walk through the alleys from the Mackinnon Road Market to Fort Jesus that makes an interesting walk

The buildings and especially the richly decorated wooden doors in Arab style brings out a spectacular view.

The carvings on the doors throughout the walk through old town, rich in its heavy, historical Arab influence, captures people’s attention from time and time again.

Mombasa Tusks
Mombasa's tusks are the best-known landmark of this city, an awesome tourist attraction in Mombasa. The Mombasa “Tusks” are symbolic representations of the entrance into the heart of the town. They are huge tusk-shaped arches made of aluminum and spell the letter M for Mombasa. Apparently they were built to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's visit to the city in 1952.

Ngomongo Village Park – Shanzu Mombasa Kenya
Ngomongo Villages Park is a top tourist attraction, a collection of nine diverse Kenya tribal homesteads; each complete with hut, cultivated crops, domestic and wild animals, wild animal traps, charms and fetishes, tinsmiths and even a village witch doctor.

Each village has activities for you to engage in, including archery, boating, rafting, tasting traditional foods and liquor, forest walk, hook fishing, grinding and pounding maize.

Ngomongo Village is a miniature reflection of tribal community groundings. Sample their lifestyles and culture in the different tribal huts and catch a real life glimpse of what may have been before "Civilization" set in a number of traditional huts serving different tribal groundings have been recreated in this theme village.

Nguuni Nature Sanctuary
What a great place for a party, celebration or just a sun-downer.

Tourist Attractions and Events.
It has so many tourist attractions that makes it a holiday destination in Kenya; up on the Nguu Tatu Hills (3 hills), you are in completely natural surroundings, and can virtually see nothing but un-spoilt bush around you. The reserve itself has giraffes, camels, elands, oryx, water bucks, ostriches and bird watching bandas.
 
It’s a great place for bird watching, hiking and sun-downers.
