Mombasa being a popular holiday city
in Kenya, it has enormous wild and marine life that is quite breathtaking. The
tourist attractions in Mombasa are so varied, no wonder tourists keep visiting
this coastal town year in year out. While in Mombasa make sure you visit one or
two of these National Parks and I assure you that you will not regret it.
Amboseli National Park is located on
the North West of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Kenya, at the border of Kenya and
Tanzania.

Amboseli
has breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro (in Tanzania). It is home to more than 50 species of mammal
and over 400 species of bird. The animals include; elephants, hippos, cheetah,
leopards and many more.
There
are also several camp sites for people who would like to go camping.

to Visit the Park
The
best time to visit the Park would be from June – October.
Haller Park (Bamburi Nature Trail)
The Haller Park - formerly known as
Bamburi Nature Trail is the largest animal sanctuary in Mombasa. It
is located next to the Bamburi Cement Factory, along the stretch between
Bamburi Cement and Shanzu

The
park has enormous variety of animals, reptiles, insects and botanical gardens.
Walking along the trail is the ideal way to look at the various animals. It is also a habitat for a large number of
flora and fauna species, butterfly pavilion.
Animals such
as duiker antelopes, herds of eland and Oryx are some of the animals you come
across in the forest
There
are nature routes in the forest trails for cycling, jogging as well as walking
Kisite Marine Park and Mpunguti Reserve
Kisite island is a small waterless coral island, 8 km offshore in the Marine Park. Coral platforms around the raised central portion are exposed at low tide. The two are located on the south coast of Mombasa off Shimoni and south of Wasini Island in Kwale.

surrounding waters have well developed coral gardens and a large variety of

Kisite Mpunguti National Marine
Park is the home of Dolphin and Coconut crab in Kenya.
You
can enjoy snorkeling or diving among its colorful coral reefs. Dolphins,
turtles, manta rays, angelfish and parrotfish are regularly sighted.
Best time to Visit Kisite and Mpunguti Marine Parks
The best time would be between October – January
Kiunga Marine National Park
Kiunga Marine National Park is located at the
northern stretch of the coastline.
